This short film follows Warembungan spiritual leader Tonaas Rinto Taroreh as he conducts a ritual to protect and honour ancestral connections to a sacred spring near his community in Indonesia.
The film was created by Kalfein Michael Wuisan, an Indigenous Minahasa youth from Wuwuk, Minahasa, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia. In addition to working with the Indonesian Alliance of Indigenous Peoples (AMAN), he is involved in the creative movement to enhance Minahasa culture with local artists and historians. He is also the founder of Smartphone Movement, which teaches indigenous youth how to use smartphones to protect their communities through photography and videography.
