COP17 begins in Yerevan on October 19, 2026.

The negotiations will focus on reviewing progress made in the four years since the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). It is more important than ever to ensure that Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities’ rights, knowledge and contributions to biodiversity conservation and sustainable use are recognised and supported.

On October 20, CODILK, FPP, IIFB, IWBN and RMIB-LAC will publish the third edition of Local Biodiversity Outlooks (LBO-3). The report examines what has changed since the Framework was agreed, how biodiversity policies are affecting Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and the contributions they are making towards achieving its goals and targets.
